Beautifully Restored French Masterpiece "Children of Paradise" Starts May 18

It is an ineffably romantic, comic and bittersweet story of a woman loved by four different men, set in the tumultuous world of nineteenth-century Paris, teeming with hucksters and aristocrats, actors and mimes, thieves and courtesans, pimps and seers. Acclaimed director Marcel Carné and screenwriter Jacques Prévert's amazing achievement was to create this epic big-screen film in Nazi occupied France during the war. Don't miss this unique opportunity to see Children of Paradise on the big screen, the way it was meant to be seen!

"Live from the National Theatre of London" Returns With Hysterical "One Man, Two Guvnors" 5/19 & 5/20
One Man, Two Guvnors, a side-splitting comedy, current Broadway hit and nominee for seven Tony Awards, directed by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Nicholas Hytner, is the next show up in our series of special performances from the internationally renowned National Theatre of London. Performances are captured live and presented in digital high-definition projection providing audiences with an extraordinary close-up view of these world-class productions that are currently onstage in London. The New York Times says, "It wasn't until the joke about passing gas that I realized that Richard Bean's riotous crowd-pleaser...is an awfully smart show."

More on "Children Of Paradise" "Towering intimate epic of early 19th-century love and the lives of performers, often heralded as the greatest French film of all time."- The Village Voice (read the full review here)
Engaging and absorbing, Children of Paradise centers around the ill-fated love between Baptiste, a theater mime, and Garance, an actress and socialite. Complicating matters, Garance is loved by three other men: Frederick, a pretentious actor; Lacenaire, a conniving thief; and Count Eduard of Monteray. Considering the time period, many film aficionados note the extraordinary sets, costumes and props used, which weren't readily available under the Nazi regime. The restoration process for Children of Paradise was almost as painstaking due to the film being originally shot with nitrate film and not well preserved for 30 years. Children of Paradise will be shown for the first time in the remastered 2K Digital Cinema Projection format. The film will be showing once a day for a full week, with a brief intermission at each screening.
