U.S., 2015, 120 min, 35mm, Dir. George Miller, Rated R for intense sequences of violence throughout and for disturbing images, Warner Bros.
"It’s all great fun, and quite rousing as well — a large-scale genre movie that is at once unpretentious and unafraid to bring home a message." - New York Times
The Gable Cinema and the Secret Celluloid Society present George Miller’s 2015 post-apocalyptic dystopian epic Mad Max: Fury Road on 35mm as part of our late-night After Hours series! Former policeman Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) is captured by the War Boys tribe, commanded by Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), and is assigned to be the blood donor for the ailing War Boy Nux (Nicholas Hoult). Meanwhile, Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) is a gasoline-tank truck driver for Joe, but seeks to escape Joe’s tyrannical ways with five women, his selected “breeders”, hidden in her truck. Immortan Joe commands a party to hunt down Furiosa as she valiantly tries to evade her pursuers. When Max joins with Furiosa and the five wives, the chase only intensifies as the defectors increase in number, but throughout, the women hold hard to hope and the future. The fourth outing in the Mad Max film series, Fury Road stands at an amazing 97% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
